SALT SPRING ISLAND

Salt Spring is the largest of the gulf islands, a stone’s throw away from Victoria. It’s only a 35-minute ferry ride so easily doable for the day. Even better, pop over for a night or two.

To Drink

Caffeinated

Switchboard Coffee

My favourite spot in town—pure heaven when it’s sunny out.

Boozy

Salt Spring Wild Cider

There’s two cideries on the island, but this is my favourite. In warm weather, there’s picnic tables out back to accommodate the crowds. In rain, they have a great covered patio so you still get the sites. Get a charcuterie board and enjoy!

Salt Spring Brewing Co.

If you only have time for one spot for a drink, I recommend this one! Built into the side of a tree, the brewery is one-of-a-kind. Delicious beer and a beautiful spot. In off-season it’s closed Monday/Tuesday.

to Eat

Brunch & Lunch

Switchboard Cafe

Great breakfast sandwiches.

Salt Spring Island Cheese

I’ve not been to the cheesery itself, but I’ve had their delicious goat’s cheese. Looks like a beautiful stop at their farm shop.

Buzzy’s Luncheonette

Montreal Jewish deli—such great food. There’s no seating inside but picnic tables on the patio. Can be a long wait if you’re there at peak hours.

Dessert & Snacks

Mavericks

Looks DELICIOUS for a quick stop.

To See & Do

Saturday Market

The infamous Saturday market! It runs from end of March to October (specific dates change so double check this before you go!). It’s more artisans than farmers market.

Vesuvius Beach

Best spot in town to watch the sunset.

Ruckle Provincial Park

Great for a little walk or a bigger hike!

Ganges Town Centre

Small (not an understatement…) but very cute! Take a nosy around the shops. There’s 2 bookstores that are beautiful.

Beddis Beach

Beautiful sandy beach! We went here for a cold water dip and the water was cold and fresh! Highly recommend for a dip.
